Best Bluebonnet Photo Site in Flower Mound FOUND!! Kids Activities Blog
There is a great trail in Flower Mound off High Rd. that has swell hiking. It is right next to the lake & in that location are TONS of fossils to be found (today we institute huge "Devils toenails" and lots of beat out-imprint fossils). Right now, the bluebonnets are in bloom and it is the biggest hillside/hiking path full of flowers I have ever seen.
If you take Main St/FM 1171 heading towards Roanoke/Argyle direction, y'all will come to a stop light chosen High Rd. If you pass the neighborhoods of Chimney Stone & Tour 18 you have gone also far.
Turn left onto High Rd. Follow it all the way to the dead-end & park your car on the side of the street (there are No Parking signs right at the entrance of the trail because it is surrounded by private residences. But if you go upwardly the street just a bit and out of the "culdesac" you tin park aslope the road).
If you are facing the culdesac, there is a gated private residence on your right, and a trail on your left. There are some concrete small poles to finish cars from driving onto the trail. Go down the grassy trail & y'all'll run across the trail sign at the end of the path. Go right and you'll find the bluebonnets. Get straight and you'll find the fossils & the lake. Accept the trail at the elevation of the little hill through the bluebonnets and you'll find yourself in the woods on a nice trail.
It'southward a hidden gem!
